Q: What are some of the pollutants in the Bluestone?
A: PCB's, fecal coliform, heavy metals and benzene along with other petrochemicals.

Q:What are some of the health risks?
A:   Cancer, birth defects, reproductive problems, memory problems, fecal contact diseases and nerve damage are just some of the risks associated with the pollutants found in the Bluestone River.

A: In addition to the thousands of people who drink form the water supplies all along the Bluestone, thousands of families live along the river and use the waters.  Recreational uses also bring thousands more locals and out of state visitors to The Bluestone Lake and river for fishing, swimming and boating each year.  This does not include the thousands of people using The New River each year for recreational purposes.  Bluestone drains into and ends at The New River in Summers County WV.
Q: What can I do to help clean up Bluestone River? 
A:   Learn about your waterways!  Promote education which teaches good stewardship of streams and rivers.  Attend meetings to learn more, participate in litter cleanups and testing days, donate to allow more tests to bring about action eliminating the health risks.
