The Bluestone Conservatory is an association organized to address the pollution of the Bluestone River. Preservation of river boundries, conservation of wetlands and the health of citizens is primary in the BC Association's efforts. Scientists and Marine Biologists have written many articles concerning the toxins which do pass through water filtration and those health risks associated. Education is to be part of the effort in bringing about cleaner waters and preservation of the venerable Bluestone River.

Many violations have been documented along the upper Bluestone River. Forty six percent of fecal coli form samples have failed and fish analyzed were found to have many hundred percent above the threshold for polychlorinated byphenyls (PCBs) that signal alarm and health concerns.

We have a public drinking water intakes on this stream that must be protected. We are concerned about bacterial contamination in the Bluestone. This amount of bacteria in the stream threatens the public health of anyone that plays wades or swims. Fish are inedible due to PCBs and bacteria. A reversal of past violations and the adherence to Clean Water Standards must be practiced by all agencies to curtail the unhealthy practices.

  • The Bluestone Conservatory meetings will occur on the last Thursday of January, April, July and October with meeting sites announced early in the month of the meeting. If interested in being part of river environmental efforts or you have questions, contact: BluestoneRiver@yahoo.com.
